Inspection tags on every amplifier. Dated. Initialled. Never overdue.

Giles was the third engineer on the secondment and the only one who had played in a band before. He did not say which. The archive has not found it.

He played bass guitar and bass pedals together, which allowed the band to sound like six people on stage while paying for five airline tickets.

He kept the band's equipment in airworthy condition. Every amplifier carried a tag with the date of its last inspection, in his handwriting. None was ever found overdue.

He returned to England in 1989 when the secondment ended, and flew back for every recording and every engagement until 1992. He kept the boarding passes.

Present status. Lives in Bristol. Designs cockpit displays. Has a box of boarding passes he has offered to the archive.
